‘Praise God’ hymn writer gives profits to charity

Bob McAlpine of Newark calls himself a one-hit wonder when it comes to writing hymns. McAlpine was on vacation in 1990 when the words to a song, along with the music, kept running through his head. The result was “Praise God,” a hymn that’s sold more than 90,340 copies since he wrote it with the editing help of Don Besig.
