Church — Is it necessary?

I’m sure many of you have heard the statement, “I don’t need church to be a good person,” or “I pray on my own.” Then there are many more who say that they believe in God but don’t care for the idea of “organized religion.” Those folks growing up in the late 1960s and 70s were sometimes affected by the hippie culture, with its loosening of moral values, rejection of long-standing societal practices, and non-commitment. Although this era has passed, the “non-commitment” seems to have lingered on in areas of marriage and church membership, to name two. Many are saying, “do we really need church?” It is sad that many of those who have no church affiliation say they believe in spirituality but have no depth of Biblical knowledge or foundation to support them in times of need, when they could use it for healing financial, social or health problems… Read story»
