PEORIA — On some days, she’s Tamar the Tenacious, who risks her life to have a child. On other days, she’s Rahab the Risk Taker, who secretly helps ancient Hebrews on their way into the Promised Land. On still other days, she’s Bathsheba the Wise, passing on her wisdom to her son, Solomon, future leader of Israel. Whatever female figure from the Bible that Cheryl Rhodes is portraying, the theme is always the same: Women played a much bigger role in the Bible than scholars and readers often give them credit for.
