One thing that needs to be understood about Christian Science and Christian Scientists is that God is not seen to be a big person in the sky, but as (capitalized) Love, Principle, Mind, Life, Truth, Spirit, Soul.

This Mind, lovingly intelligent and intelligently loving, is understood to be the only mind. You could say that healing happens when we deeply grasp that there is only Mind, and that it does not conceive of any kind of unintelligence, e.g., illness, accident.

These things, both individual and collective, are like the nightmares of un-intelligence, un-Love, you could say. Through studying and understanding the real laws of reality, we awaken from what is unlike that loving Intelligence. Matter has to yield to it!

Each individual, Christian Scientist or not, is seen as the image and likeness of God, as Genesis I says. But this means “the image and likeness” of Mind, Love, Principle–an intelligence that goes far beyond what appears on the surface.

Quantum physics, with its dawning understanding that matter is not at all what it appears to be, is only beginning to touch the borders of this understanding. People have been healed, for many centuries, through prayer, and Christian Science elucidates the deep law–the Science, with a capital “S”–behind this.

Thanks for sharing this broadcast, which I thought was fair in tone, and which I was grateful to see.

Also, thanks to Erin Snow for the excellent comments above.

So glad to see this news broadcast on Christian Science, relative to Christian Scientists being left out of benefits when their treatment is based on prayer. I believe the news anchor failed to mention that the prayer that the congregants are referring to in the piece is not what people commonly associate with the word, but is prayer based upon deep understanding of fundamental truths of the nature of God, and His loving relationship to His “image and likeness,” man of Genesis I–rather than the human concept of man that begins in Genesis II. Aside from this distinction regarding prayer, the news broadcast is one Christian Scientists will appreciate as fair in its tone and treatment, and be grateful.”
